META-MODERN NOIRE

A grimy pay phone handle
Ripped from receiver
Still rests beneath haze

Silver iPhone screen only
Luminous metal post two
Latest techno blares

Headphones off Lexus
Chinese stream words of thoughts
Meaning only guess

One finger flips through
Many translators dragon
Snake stone statues stare

Purity has no
Place outside linear time
Space dissociates

Some hours years post
Yes best call simulacra
Chain smoke clove cigars

With a Chinese woman
Nods knowingly from our
Shared too tight fit shirts

In the artist’s words:

Alcaina & Steve Art Proyects is formed by curators Jose Antonio Alcaina and Paco Esteve, and was born with the purpose of dynamizing the meager artistic exhibition circuit of Alicante (Spain) within the private sphere. Our endeavor has been to create plural proposals with the participation of both established artists and, above all, emerging artists. Our work began in early 2016, at the Salmaia Gallery, where the collective exhibition “Memorobilia of Vampirya” was exhibited. Works by some of the artists exhibited appeared in the photographic book of the same name, self-published and produced by Paco Esteve and Ines Villeparisis. Subsequently, the first edition of “NeoArt / Lucentum” was inaugurated in September 2016, in “Soda,” in which we maintained the same philosophy of mixing emerging artists and others with more trajectory. The second installment, called “NeoArt / Lucentem Revisited,” was inaugurated on January 14, 2017 at Angel Castaño Art Gallery. For all our exhibitions, we have done photographic sessions, where we combine creativity with the concepts and aesthetic philosophy of each exhibition.
