CULVERT

My unassuming heart

became a valley

amassing waters and debris;

a vehicle for rain

dashing down the sides

in emergency free-fall.

It isn’t true to say

that the valley gloved the heart,

it was the heart,

rent in the same way

a clearing is made

by great and incremental

incidents. Partly

the valley remains

visible beneath land

that’s been cleared

for new lives and families

–  its pulse ebbs in culverts

below neat estates.

This furtive love trickles

deeper and deeper.

Art: Balloon from Daily Magnificence series by Çağrı Yılmaz

In the artist’s words:

I was born in 1980 in Istanbul and I was graduated from Architecture Faculty of Yildiz Technical University in the fall term of 2004. Afterwards, I worked on concept development and presentation in various architectural offices. In 2013, as a result of a search for a valuable hobby, I started shooting photos of daily life objects. Soon afterwards, I built the website “www.resifdesign.com”. In 2015, when I had enough works and courage to hold an exhibition, I started sharing my works in venues appealing to everyone. With great passion, I have been continuing with my avant-garde photography works that involve daily magnificence and that have been increasingly developed from past to today …

Daily Magnificence

“Awareness”, that is my unique goal for my photography works. In such a modern world which is crazy for consumption and where possession has been so much facilitated, replacing something and forgetting the old one has already gone too far to be found strange. Many elements in life have started to be appreciated only when they are lost. At this point, my awareness comes into play and I present unusual points of view, full of true life experiences, through daily life objects for you to take a glance at your surrounding and to realize how wealthy you are …
