In the artist’s words:

Clare Newton. My art practice is deeply rooted in dimensional thinking and classic grounding. I specialize in using photographic composite techniques to connect rich interpretations from researched subject matter to create innovative pieces that transform contemporary photography into a new art form.

I find great joy in immersing myself in a subject and pushing the boundaries of my camera to discover new ways of expressing my work. My influences include female contemporary photographers such as Mandy Barker, Rachel Maclean, and Imogen Cunningham, who inspire me to continuously push myself and explore new techniques.

I am constantly seeking to learn from specialists and delve into the technical aspects of camera work for composite pieces, as it requires a wide range of skills from shooting to processing. I purposefully choose subjects that evoke a sense of concern, and nature often plays a grounding role in my work.

One of the key elements in my work is the incorporation of Constructivism and Abstract concepts. I enjoy exploring ideas based on a logical approach, research, and creative theories to make sense of the world around me. This approach gives my work a unique perspective and allows me to convey deeper meanings through my art.
