Where the Sauce is Deluxe by Wayne Wolfson

change of address

and then i was a mother
full of awkward longing
and blundering faith

which had been there all along
but are now plainly visible
uncompromising, incarnate

where before it was all bootleg
moonshine on the back porch
of a tiny cabin in the woods

now it’s ever-dribbling protein
shakes on the front porch
of my unwashed public t-shirt

that cabin did have excellent views
and plenty of visiting animals
but no takers for breast milk

and though i do miss evenings
shooing mosquitoes from the flame
another tallow burns here

in this crowded apartment
anointing the hard won mystery
of our joined condition

In the artist’s words:

Wayne Wolfson. My main mediums are graphite & watercolor in figurative style and collage, I am completely self-taught. With collage, mine are a little different than the rest. I only use images from photos which I personally took. I am so serious about collaging that I came up with a term for mine (Cinefield®) which I then had trademarked. The definition is “Flat, two-dimensional visual works of art on paper which create the feeling of movie like narratives through a composition of image rich and story like printed pictures” I never use any digital magic.

All my work utilizes the traditional method of scissors and adhesive applied with brush. Recently my Cinefield® work has been seen on the front & back album cover for the vinyl release of the band Crooks on Tape. They also used some for the actual vinyl limited edition disc. Funki Porcini used my work for the cover of their new album “Where the Sauce is Deluxe” and announcements associated with the album’s release concerts. My goal is always that the viewer comes away from my work feeling something. I prefer a density to my pieces which allow for repeated viewings, each time something new being discovered.
