Dead Skin Cells
After the Future Sounds of London
The translucent mouths flex
with microscopic satisfaction
with little blips and mewlings
in the underseas of our places
the tiny blood fairies
dancing on the head of a flake
and all the debris falling slowly
the warm air tumbling it into itself upwards
If I could affix microphones
to the measliest invisibilities
and send them off floating in the street
crinkling like silver candy wrappers
I might dye every globule
the color of their shape

About the author:
Jacob Weil is a poet from Boston and an MFA candidate at the University of Houston’s Creative Writing Program. He is currently working on a book of poems that performs ekphrasis on contemporary music, primarily punk, noise, drone, techno, and metal. He is most interested in French and Spanish symbolism and surrealism, as well as the work of the American Idealists.

C E Morse: I spend a lot of time in vintage auto salvage yards and boatyards where I discover incredible visual elements that inspire me the same way as do the great abstract painters. I hunt for thiswild art, looking for patterns, color, texture & composition in subjects both man-made and natural; embellished by chance and patinated by nature, with an unspoken history of random events that can only be guessed or imagined. With no reference to the identity or the scale of what I photograph the abstract imagery coaxes a personal interpretation from the viewer’s imagination. “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” – Henry David Thoreau
C E Morse was born in Camden, Maine. He graduated from RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) with a BFA in Photography after studying with Paul Krot and Aaron Siskind. Further studies include courses at the Maine Photographic Workshops (now Maine Media Workshops) and MECA (the Maine College of Art). C E’s studio is located in Cumberland, Maine, where he has lived for the past 30 years.
His work has garnered awards in such competitions as: Photo Review, Marin Society of Artists, the International Photography Awards, Tokyo International Foto Awards, Photographer’s Forum, Moscow International Foto Awards, Prix de la Photographie Paris, Black & White Spider Awards, Texas Photographic Society, Head On Photo; Sydney, AU, and the International Contemporary Art Awards. His work is included in private and corporate collections. He has been selected for solo and group exhibitions; both nationally and internationally, as well as various publications.
